WEALTH AND FAME IN THE WILD WEST ARE WHAT LOMAX SEEKS . . . HIS OWN BAD LUCK IS WHAT STANDS IN HIS WAY.

Swindled out of a mining fortune in Colorado and blamed for an ensuing murder, H. H. Lomax two decades later must finally face up to his past in Skagway, Alaska. Along the way, he encounters legendary madam Mattie Silks, suffragist Susan B. Anthony, novelist Jack London, and a talking dog.

To survive his previous missteps and avoid a prison sentence for theft, Lomax must outshoot infamous Western conman Soapy Smith, outwit an unrelenting Wells Fargo investigator, and outrun Shotgun Jake Townsend, the greatest frontier assassin who never was.

Preston Lewis’ newest installment in the accounts of H. H. Lomax!  This was my first novel by Preston Lewis and I found it to be full of charm, wit, and wisdom!  Lewis’ particular brand of humor works so well in this hefty novel!  H. H. Lomax finds himself accused of a murder, swindled, and making the trek to Alaska  while meeting a variety of historical figures!

Immediately, I found myself enthralled in the tall tales of H. H. Lomax and his wonderful adventures!  There are so many facets to this book that I enjoyed as a historian and lover of the American West!  Lomax is a Western Renaissance Man, with knowledge of so many subjects and a story to go with each.  He dabbles in almost everything from gold mining to shootouts with lawmen to  encounters with famous historical figures.

This book is full of amazing plotlines with famous characters and incredible adventures!  Lewis’ prose and expertly crafted dialogue bring every character to life!  This is the sixth installment in the H. H. Lomax accounts, but it can be read as a standalone novel!  Readers will be treated to hilarious encounters, satirical banter, and a talking dog?  This book has everything! The pacing is great and it is a long book, clocking in at 403 pages. But with every page, you will find something to new to love about H. H. Lomax!

This novel is perfect for fans of humor/satire, western themed novels, and fans of Preston Lewis’ other novels!  I would recommend you buy this for your father, the history lover in your life, or any friends who enjoy a good humorous historical fiction novel!

Thank you to Preston Lewis, Wolfpack Publishing, and Lone Star Book Blog Tours for having me along for this tour!
